ProQual Level 3 Diploma in Pathway to Aesthetic Practice
Level 3 is the essential foundation for anyone entering the aesthetics industry. It is a regulated qualification delivered through ProQual, designed to give you the underpinning clinical knowledge needed before progressing into any practical aesthetic treatments.
This course is completely theory-based and focuses on building your understanding of how the skin and body work, so you can make safe, informed decisions in a clinical environment.
It is suitable for complete beginners or those transitioning into aesthetics, and is the required starting point for all advanced aesthetic pathways.
This qualification is structured around the core areas needed for safe aesthetic practice, including:
Health and safety in a salon/clinical environment
Infection prevention and control for aesthetic and needle-related treatments
Principles of skin analysis and client consultation
Anatomy and physiology for aesthetic practice
Pathology and contraindications in aesthetics
You’ll learn how to properly assess clients, understand skin and tissue structure, recognise risks, and build the foundational knowledge needed to progress into practical treatments safely.

This isn’t just a theory course to pass, it’s what gives you the clinical foundation to understand treatments properly before ever working on clients.
Without this stage, there is no safe progression into laser, skin or injectable aesthetics.
Once completed, you can progress onto Level 4 Laser & IPL, followed by advanced skin and injectable aesthetic qualifications, building a full structured pathway into the industry.
ProQual Level 4 Laser Safety, IPL & Laser Hair Removal
Level 4 is a combined regulated qualification pathway designed to introduce you to advanced aesthetic treatments, including laser and IPL hair removal and high energy devices.
It is delivered through ProQual and is built to give you both the scientific understanding and practical competence needed to safely carry out these treatments on clients.
This isn’t just about learning a treatment, it’s about understanding how and why it works, how to assess clients properly, and how to carry it out safely in a clinical environment.
On completion, you will receive the following ProQual qualifications:
ProQual Level 4 Award in Core Knowledge for Laser Safety
ProQual Level 4 Diploma in Laser, IPL and Electrical Treatments
This course is both theory and practical.

Practical laser hair removal training on live models
You must have completed Level 3 Anatomy & Physiology before enrolling onto this course.

Level 5 is where you move from foundational knowledge into real aesthetic practice, focusing on skin treatments that improve texture, tone and overall skin health.
This is a ProQual regulated qualification, designed to develop your understanding of advanced aesthetic practice while building the confidence to carry out treatments safely and effectively on real clients.
It’s a key stage in your training, where everything starts to come together: your anatomy knowledge, your consultation skills, and your ability to deliver results that are actually suited to each client.
This course is both theory and practical.
This qualification is made up of five mandatory units, all focused on safe, professional aesthetic practice:
Infection control and prevention for cosmetic, aesthetic and needle-related treatments
Professional practice for aesthetic practitioners
Advanced anatomy and physiology for aesthetic practice
Principles and practice of microneedling treatments
Principles and practice of chemical peel treatments
You’ll learn how to properly assess skin, understand different skin conditions, select the right treatments, and carry out microneedling and chemical peels safely and effectively.
Alongside this, there is a strong focus on consultation, treatment planning and understanding how the skin responds over time, not just immediately after treatment.

You will also learn dermaplaning, a controlled exfoliation treatment designed to remove dead skin cells and fine vellus hair, improving skin texture and glow.

Aesthetic Practice
Level 6 is where your training moves into advanced aesthetic treatments and injectable-based skin therapies, requiring a much deeper level of understanding, responsibility and clinical awareness.
This is a ProQual regulated qualification pathway, allowing you to expand into regenerative treatments alongside skin boosters, advanced microneedling and fat dissolving.
At this stage, it’s not just about learning treatments, it’s about understanding how to assess properly, plan treatments safely, and deliver results that are suitable for each individual client.
This course is both theory and practical.
This level builds on everything from Level 3-5 and focuses on advanced treatment planning, skin regeneration and injectable-based techniques.

ProQual Level 7 Diploma in Aesthetic Practice
Level 7 is the highest stage within the ProQual pathway and is designed for practitioners ready to move into advanced injectable aesthetics at a recognised clinical standard.
This is a regulated qualification through ProQual, focused on dermal fillers and anti-wrinkle treatments, but more importantly, the full responsibility that comes with them including consultation, ethics, psychology and complication management.
At this level, it’s not about learning how to inject.
It’s about understanding the face properly, assessing clients in detail, and making safe, informed decisions every time you treat.
This qualification is made up of six mandatory units, all focused on safe, ethical and advanced aesthetic practice:

To enrol onto Level 7, you must meet one of the following:
Hold a Level 6 qualification in aesthetic practice (or equivalent)
Hold Level 4 & Level 6 qualifications including anatomy and professional practice
Hold a valid Level 3 First Aid qualification
OR
Be a qualified and registered nurse or doctor
You must also be in a position to carry out practical treatments on clients as part of your training.

At B.T.A.N Academy, you can choose to complete each level individually, or follow the full structured pathway from Level 3 through to Level 7.
If each course is taken separately, the full programme totals £9,200.
However, most students choose to enrol onto the complete pathway, which is available for £7,000, saving over £2,000 while allowing you to move through your training in a clear, supported and structured way.
Moving through each level step-by-step means you’re not jumping into advanced treatments before you’re ready.
You build your knowledge properly, gain confidence at each stage, and develop the kind of understanding that actually prepares you to work with real clients safely.
It also means your training is consistent throughout, with the same nurse-led approach, the same level of support, and no gaps in your learning.
